Comedy Video Star
It’s not only comedy professionals who make
comedy videos, sometimes us more amateur or aspiring comedians quite fancy
trying our hand at it or just capturing some of our hilarious thoughts to share
with family and friends. With Christmas
time coming up, what better time to share your comedy talents with loved ones
in a way that they can enjoy over and over.
So if you were thinking about it, here are just a few tips to help get
you started:
Think about the setting for your
video. Be realistic, your setting in
your dreams might be Madison Square Gardens in front of thousands of adoring
fans laughing hysterically at your every word…in reality, you are more likely
going to be setting up in a spare room or other suitable room in your home. It might seem obvious, but if you’re not
using a backdrop, check that any visible places are reasonably tidy and clutter
free. You don’t want your habit of
hoarding to become a distraction to your comedy!
You should try to be reasonably relaxed so
try not to overdo or worry too much about the acting. If you appear to be anxious or self
conscious, your intended audience will feel uncomfortable and not enjoy your
routine.
Think about whether you will give your show
or routine a title. This can be helpful
in setting the scene and your audience might get an idea of what to
expect. If you’re quite techy, you will
find this easy to do in your editing, but if you want the less difficult
option, a simple title board in your hands at the start of your show will do
the trick.
Again with the obvious, but if you intend
to use any props during your show, make sure they are to hand as nothing is
worst than losing the attention of your audience as you hunt the room for
props!
Take some time to rehearse so that your
performance looks and feels easy and comfortable. However, when it comes to recording your
show, don’t be too quick to dismiss any ‘bloopers’, these really can sometimes
enhance an already funny performance and audiences love that human side to your
show.
So now you’re ready!
