Learning the Art of Being Funny
Humor is something liked by every person from every walk of
the life. Everyone likes funny, humorous and witty people. The problem arises
when people question what is funny. There are several occasions when you
cracked a joke which you thought was funny, but it failed to make people laugh.
Here is my explanation of what is funny and what is not.
The first humor factor is pain. Pain, be it external or
internal, generates humor. Any tragedy, if doesn’t have any pain, is not like a
real pain. For example, ethnic jokes are funny because they cause emotional
pain to the people they are poked at. Similarly, insult jokes are extremely
funny, only because their targets are emotionally hurt. The only exception in
this type is when something happens to you. Pain, if inflicts upon you, is not
funny. It does seem funny to others, but not to your own self. So, console
yourself by thinking that others are laughing.
When something unexpected happens, it is also funny. For
example, you tell your friends a joke but they don’t laugh. That is funny. It
is humiliating, but it is funny.
Lies are funny. You tell a joke about a celebrity, though
full of lies, people still laugh at it. Lies are mostly unbelievable and
unexpected, so people are expected to find them funny.
To conclude, not everything you think funny is actually
funny. Others’ perspective can always differ from yours. If you fail to make
people around laugh, don’t get disheartened. Even failing to make
people laugh is funny, as you didn’t see it coming. To checkout some great
